Veo 3 detector: was this video made with Google Veo?
Google's Veo 3 and 3.1 make video with matching sound, including speech, which makes their clips especially easy to believe. Paste a link or upload the clip to check the picture and the voice together.
How well we catch Google Veo
- of 216 Google Veo test videos flagged as AI
- 88.9%
- called real by mistake
- 2.3%
- each clip tested as published, WhatsApp-quality, 360p and heavily compressed
- 4×
Veo is one of the harder tools for every detector, ours included: our model flagged 88.9% of the Veo clips in our test (Veo, 2, 3 and 3.1). When it isn't sure, the result says “not conclusive” rather than calling the video real. Every AI tool's results (measured 2026-10-10).
Signs of a Google Veo video you can check yourself
- A small visible “Veo” watermark in a corner on clips made in the Gemini app (some plans and tools export without it).
- Every Veo video carries Google's invisible SynthID watermark. Only Google's own SynthID tools can read it; we can't, and say so.
- Speech that is perfectly clean and level, with no room echo or background noise, even outdoors.
- Text, logos and signs that look right at first glance but don't spell anything when you pause.
None of these proves anything on its own: real videos have odd moments too, and the best AI clips have none.
Questions
- Can it read Google's SynthID watermark?
- No. SynthID can only be checked with Google's own tools. Our checks look at the video itself: motion and texture, individual frames and the voice.
- Is Veo 3 harder to detect than Sora?
- In our tests, yes: 88.9% of Veo clips were flagged, against 97.5% for Sora. That's why the result always shows its reasons and says when it can't tell.
