Sora detector: was this video made with OpenAI's Sora?
Sora and Sora 2 make some of the most convincing AI videos, and the Sora app's clips spread fast once the watermark is cropped. Paste a link or upload the clip: our video model, the frame check, the voice check and a Content Credentials check look at it together.
How well we catch Sora
- of 516 Sora test videos flagged as AI
- 97.5%
- called real by mistake
- 0.8%
- each clip tested as published, WhatsApp-quality, 360p and heavily compressed
- 4×
If the file still carries Sora's signed Content Credentials, the result says so with the signer. Without them, the call rests on our video model, which flagged 97.5% of the Sora clips in our test, plus the frame and voice checks. Every AI tool's results (measured 2026-10-10).
Signs of a Sora video you can check yourself
- A moving “Sora” watermark (the Sora app adds one; re-posts often crop or blur it).
- Content Credentials (C2PA) in the original file, which OpenAI attaches to Sora videos; social platforms usually strip them, so an uploaded original is the best case.
- Objects that merge, appear or vanish between cuts, text and signs that don't stay readable, and hands or fingers that change shape.
- Motion that is a little too smooth: cameras that glide without shake, crowds that move in sync.
None of these proves anything on its own: real videos have odd moments too, and the best AI clips have none.
Questions
- Can it detect Sora 2?
- Our test set includes Sora clips, and the model flagged 97.5% of them across four quality levels. Sora 2 is newer, so treat any single result as evidence, not proof, and look at the reasons shown.
- The Sora watermark was cropped. Can it still tell?
- Yes, the video model doesn't rely on the watermark: it looks at how the picture moves and its texture over time. A cropped watermark only removes one clue.
