Instagram AI video checker: is this Reel real or AI?
Many of the AI videos that go viral in India travel as Instagram Reels. Copy the Reel's link and paste it here: our checks look at the motion, the frames, the voice, the caption and any AI watermark together.
How to check an Instagram video
- 1Open the Reel and tap the share icon (the paper plane).
- 2Tap “Copy link”.
- 3Paste the link in the box above and pick Quick Scan or Deep Scan.
Good to know about Instagram videos
- Private accounts and Stories need a login, so they can't be fetched. Save or screen-record the video and upload the file instead.
- Instagram sometimes shows Meta's “AI info” label on posts. It depends on the creator disclosing AI or on signals left by some AI tools, so most AI videos carry no label at all.
- When the caption comes with the link, our post-text check reads it: a Reel tagged #aiart or “made with AI” counts as labelled AI.
- Instagram re-compresses every Reel. Every test clip behind our accuracy numbers was also checked as a compressed, WhatsApp-quality copy.
How often it's right
- of 601 AI videos flagged in an independent test
- 97%
- of 84 real videos passed
- 96%
- each clip tested as published, WhatsApp-quality, 360p and heavily compressed
- 4×
No detector is 100% sure, so every answer comes with its reasons, and an honest “not conclusive” when the signals don't agree. Full results (measured 2026-10-10).
Questions
- Why does it say the Instagram link can't be fetched?
- Instagram sometimes blocks automated downloads, and private posts always need a login. Download or screen-record the Reel and upload the file: it gets the same checks.
- Does it check Instagram photos?
- No, it checks videos. For a photo, the tips on this page still help, but the scanner needs a video.
