Deepfake detector: is this video a deepfake?
“Deepfake” covers any video where AI made or changed what you see or hear: a fully generated clip, a swapped face, or a real person given words they never said. Paste a link or upload the video to check it.
What it catches, and how well
Fully AI-generated video
Our strongest check. Our own video model looks at how the picture moves over time, alongside a frame check and a search for AI watermarks.
In an independent test it flagged 97.0% of 601 AI videos, including clips from an AI family it never saw in training.
Cloned or synthetic voice
A speech model listens to the speech in 4-second stretches for signs of voice synthesis; Deep Scan covers the whole soundtrack.
Voice is the hardest area for every detector, ours included: it can misread real voice-overs and Indian-language speech, so a voice flag alone never decides the answer.
Face swaps and lip-sync on real footage
The video and frame checks can catch swapped faces, but we don't have a dedicated face-swap check yet.
We haven't measured how often face swaps are caught, so look closely too: the edges of the face, teeth, blinking, and whether the lips match the words.
Real video, false claim
Often the footage is real but old or from somewhere else. We read the post's text for AI labels and search published fact-checks for its claim.
If no fact-check exists yet, find the original upload and its date: our checks judge the picture and sound, not the caption.
Full accuracy results (measured 2026-10-10).

Questions
- Is there a free deepfake detector?
- Yes. Quick Scan here is free with no sign-up: paste a link or upload a video and get an answer with its reasons in under a minute. Your first Deep Scan, which checks every second of picture and speech, is free too.
- Can a deepfake detector be 100% sure?
- No. Every detector makes mistakes, which is why each answer here shows the evidence behind it and says “not conclusive” when the signals don't agree.
- What should I do if I find a deepfake of me?
- Save the link and a copy, report it to the platform, and in India report it at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930. Our guide on what to do if someone made a deepfake of you has the full steps.
